Brannock Berman & Seider Tops Chambers Appellate Rankings

Cited as having “experienced counsel” who offer “thoughtful, strategic advice,” and “a one-stop appellate shop with people who have handled everything,” Chambers and Partners USA has once again recognized Brannock Berman & Seider as “one of the best appellate firms in the state of Florida.” Along with the firm’s “Band 1” ranking—achieved by just four other firms of any size—Chambers has also listed five of the firm’s lawyers—the most of any Florida firm—as notable appellate practitioners.

Chambers is well-known for its rigorous and independent methodology and is often called the “gold standard” in legal rankings. Its dedicated full-time research team speaks with lawyers and clients directly, conducting in-depth telephone and email interviews. The rankings are comprehensive, considering factors like technical legal ability, client service, commercial vision and business understanding, diligence, value for money, and the depth of a law firm’s team.

Shareholder Steve Brannock remains ranked “Band 1” for appellate practice—his twentieth year as a banded Chambers lawyer. Praised for being “a trusted counselor,” “outstanding,” and “a legend of appellate law,” Steve once again proves that “he’s a force to be reckoned with.” Clients and peers recognized Steve as “the go-to man for jurisdiction and procedure,” praised his ability to be “very good on his feet,” and characterized him as “the dean of the appellate Bar.”

Once again joining Steve in the top Band 1, shareholder Ceci Berman was singled out as a “superstar,” “an extremely hard worker,” and “a master strategist and tactician.” She was noted for her ability to produce “succinct and compelling work” and for taking the time to “dig in and create a superior product.” Clients and trial counsel also praised Ceci for being “a delight to work with” and “a clear communicator” who is “very professional.” Ceci and Steve are the only lawyers at the same firm to share a Band 1 ranking.

Firm shareholders Tom Seider and Joe Eagleton are ranked in Band 3.  Tom was lauded as a “fabulous writer,” a “great writer,” and simply “brilliant.” Clients also characterized him as “a very insightful, intelligent, and knowledgeable appellate attorney.”

Praised for his “very creative mind” and for being “an excellent writer,” Joe was noted for possessing “a deep, nuanced understanding of Florida appellate law.”  Clients and trial counsel noted that he is “very good technically,” “very collaborative,” and “a zealous advocate” with a strategic understanding of “when to make an argument and when to let it go.”

Rounding out the firm’s rankings is Phil Padovano, who is listed as one of just three “Senior Statespeople.” Phil was noted as being “famous in Florida appellate circles and a respected source.” He was also recognized as “quoted a lot as a major authority on Florida appeals,” having “published major treatises on appellate law in Florida,” reflecting the wisdom and knowledge gained over his 50-plus year career as “a very experienced former judge.”

There are only 43 lawyers statewide ranked by Chambers for appellate litigation in Florida.
