Tom Seider Presents on Additur and Remittitur

Brannock Berman & Seider shareholder Tom Seider spoke on additur and remittitur—important post-trial remedies in which a trial court increases or decreases a jury’s award of damages—as part of the monthly webinar series organized by the Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Section.

Tom and fellow panelist Katie Ender went “beyond the basics” to cover the nuances of the remittitur and additur statutes, the procedures that apply for raising and asserting these remedies, and the legal standards. They also provided practical tips from their experience, on both the plaintiff and defense side, for seeking appellate review of orders granting or denying these remedies. And they offered many real-world examples from cases and briefs about how these issues often arise on appeal and how lawyers can persuasively argue them.

The monthly webinar series is one of the Appellate Practice Section’s signature continuing legal education initiatives. These events take place over the lunch hour and are attended by lawyers around the state.
