Phil Padovano Presents On Judicial Writing At The Florida College For Advanced Judicial Studies

Brannock & Humphries lawyer and longtime former judge Phil Padovano gave a presentation to a group of forty trial judges, including those from both circuit and county courts around the state, in a judicial writing seminar sponsored by the Florida College for Advanced Judicial Studies.

The seminar covered a variety of topics related to the subject of judicial writing at the trial level.  It was designed to help trial judges improve their writing skills by developing an effective and personal writing style, composing clear findings of fact, developing a record that provides the reviewing court with the clearest possible picture of the case, and determining what type of order is required for a particular ruling.

Mr. Padovano was joined on the seminar faculty by Robert Luck, then of the Third District Court of Appeal and now a member of the Florida Supreme Court; Rodolfo Ruiz of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami; and Chris Altenbernd, a retired judge from the Second District Court of Appeal in Tampa.
