Joe Eagleton Gives Presentation for Appellate CLE Program
For the second time in a row, Brannock Berman & Seider shareholder Joe Eagleton presented the basics of appellate jurisdiction to newly admitted members of The Florida Bar for a program organized by the Young Lawyers Division.
The continuing legal education program is part of the Basic Skills Course Requirement established to help ensure that all attorneys begin their legal careers with a thorough and practical understanding of the law. These “basic level” courses must be completed within the first three years of admission to comply with the requirement. The Basic Skills program offers a variety of subject areas, from personal-injury law to labor and employment law to criminal law, and practice areas, covering topics like transactional practice, business litigation, and appeals. Supervised by the Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education, the courses are offered exclusively online.
Joe tackled the Basic Appellate Program along with several other top practitioners and judges from around the state. Topics included preserving error for appeal, oral argument, and Joe’s presentation on jurisdiction. Joe discussed why appellate jurisdiction matters, how to figure out whether there is jurisdiction, and how to go about invoking the jurisdiction of Florida’s appellate courts.
