Ceci Berman And Tom Seider Present At Special Seminar On Preservation Of Error

Brannock & Humphries attorneys Ceci Berman and Tom Seider were part of an all-star faculty at an advanced, daylong course presented by The Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Section entitled, “The Art of Objecting: A Trial Lawyer’s Guide to Preserving Error for Appeal.”

The program provided detailed substantive guidance for trial and appellate lawyers alike about when and how often they must object, whether they should (or must) renew their objections, how to raise certain issues on appeal, and how to run a clean case and trial for appellate purposes.  Each presentation focused on a separate stage of a typical case, from pretrial and discovery matters to trial evidentiary issues, jury selection, closing arguments, jury instructions, verdict forms, motions for directed verdict, and post-trial motions.

Ceci Berman served as the seminar’s moderator and also facilitated a panel discussion with four judges about how to avoid common preservation pitfalls.  Tom Seider presented along with Second District Court of Appeal Judge John Badalamenti regarding jury instructions, verdict forms, jury questions and conduct, and jury verdicts.  Other faculty members included four appellate judges and one trial judge.
