Brannock & Humphries Obtains Affirmance Of Jury Verdict Rejecting Legal Malpractice Claim

The Second District Court of Appeal issued a per curiam affirmance today in favor of a Brannock & Humphries client who was sued for legal malpractice over his handling of a real estate deal.

The lawyer had managed the real estate transaction on behalf of his longtime client and, after that client died, his companies, now controlled by his ex-wife and daughters, sued the lawyer in an effort to recoup sales proceeds they felt were owed to them.  After a jury ruled in favor of the lawyer, the ex-wife and daughters appealed, raising challenges to the trial court’s evidentiary rulings and to the instructions given to the jury.

Brannock & Humphries was hired to defend the jury’s verdict and, following written briefing and an oral argument in Tampa, the Second District swiftly upheld the ruling.  The Second District’s per curiam affirmance is located here.
