Brannock Berman & Seider Partners Featured at Special Seminar on Error Preservation

Brannock Berman & Seider partners Ceci Berman and Tom Seider participated as speakers in an advanced course presented by the Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Section about how to run a clean case for appeal.

The program, “The Art of Objecting,” provided detailed substantive guidance for trial and appellate lawyers alike about when and how often they must object, whether they should (or must) renew their objections, how to raise certain issues on appeal, and how to work with appellate lawyers during trial.  Each presentation focused on a separate stage of a typical case, from jury selection to trial evidentiary issues, closing arguments, jury instructions, verdict forms, motions for directed verdict, and post-trial motions.

Ceci served as moderator and facilitated a panel discussion with four judges on how to avoid common preservation pitfalls.  Tom presented, along with attorney Jack Reiter, regarding jury instructions, verdict forms, jury questions and conduct, and jury verdicts.
