Phil Padovano Moderates American Bar Association Panel On Jury Verdicts And Jury Instructions
Brannock & Humphries shareholder Phil Padovano, who served for more than twenty-five years on Florida’s trial and appellate benches, presented at the American Bar Association’s regional appellate practice seminar in Miami.
The program covered a variety of topics, from tricks of the appellate trade to ethics and professionalism in appellate practice. Mr. Padovano’s portion of the event took a deep dive on an issue that many appellate lawyers handle at the trial level: preparing jury verdict forms and proposed jury instructions.
Using his wealth of judicial experience and his long legal career as a guide, Mr. Padovano moderated a panel that featured a federal district court judge and three seasoned appellate practitioners. The panel discussed preservation of error, differences between inconsistent and inadequate verdicts, and the “two-issue” rule.
